How Cravable uses AI
Draft 2, October 5, 2026. A working draft while Cravable is a test build; it will change before Cravable opens.
The short version
- AI helps you describe a dish, draws illustrations of it and checks them, helps you search the craves near you, and writes down what you say to the mic.
- A kitchen, never AI, decides the real dish: its recipe, ingredients, allergens and any diet it promises.
- AI pictures are labeled AI illustration. They’re ideas, not photos of your meal. A kitchen’s own photo of the dish, labeled as its photo, can take an illustration’s place.
- What you type to the dish guide, and the pictures to check, go to Claude, by Anthropic. Descriptions for pictures, and what you say to the mic, go to Gemini, by Google. Neither gets your name, email or account, and neither may use what we send to train its models.
- Don’t rely on AI for allergies, health or safety.

1. Where Cravable uses AI
- The dish guide, in Imagine and on home
- Asks about the dish you have in mind and writes its dish card with you: its name, description, the story behind it, cuisine, diets, anything to leave out and questions for the kitchen. It looks the dish up on the web as you chat, and may show you craves nearby of the same dish, or of one you name.Model: Claude, by Anthropic
- AI pictures
- Draws three illustrations at a time from the dish card, each packed to go from its own angle with the sauces and sides it comes with, and you keep three. Before you see one, another AI checks it against the dish card, and one that doesn’t look right is drawn again. Three more come once you tell the dish guide what should be different. Only for signed-in accounts.Model: Gemini, by Google, checked by Claude, by Anthropic
- The AI search
- Reads the open craves in your area and picks the ones that fit what you ask, with a one-line answer. When nothing open is the dish you asked for, it names the dish for you to imagine.Model: Claude, by Anthropic
- The mic, in the AI search, the chat box on home and the dish guide’s box in Imagine
- Writes down what you say, and puts the words in the box for you to check and send. It never sends them for you.Model: Gemini, by Google
The dish guide always says it’s AI, and the search’s button carries a small spark, our mark for AI.
2. What AI doesn’t do
- It doesn’t decide which kitchens join Cravable, approve offers, set prices or choose who gets a meal. People at Cravable and the kitchens do that.
- It doesn’t check allergens or certify a diet. The as described stamp is read from the dish card, and only a kitchen’s own stamp, solid with a tick, is a promise.
- It doesn’t talk to kitchens for you. A kitchen sees the dish card as a starting point, with its allergens marked as an AI estimate for the kitchen to confirm.
- It doesn’t make decisions about you that have legal or similar effects.
3. What the AI gets
All AI requests go from Cravable’s servers, never straight from your browser.
- The dish guide gets your conversation with it (the latest 40 messages), the dish card so far, and the facts of up to six craves nearby of the dish, or of another dish your newest message names (their name, origin, ingredients and diets, never who started them). To look the dish up, Claude’s web search gets the dish’s name and your newest message.
- Pictures: Gemini gets a description of the picture to draw, with the dish’s name and origin. To check each picture, Claude gets it with the dish card’s facts (its name, origin, description, how it’s made, its ingredients and sides). Nothing else. Each morning, Claude looks again at the day’s pictures, with the same facts and each one’s check, to catch any the check got wrong.
- The AI search gets what you ask, your area’s name, today’s date and the open craves nearby (each dish’s facts, stage, price, pickup days and neighborhood, never who started them).
- The mic: your browser asks you before Cravable can use your microphone. It records only from your tap on the mic until you stop, go quiet or reach 30 seconds, and Gemini gets that recording to write down. Nothing else.
- Never: your name, email address, exact location or IP address. Your account only shows as the random ID in a picture’s address, when Claude looks again at the day’s pictures.
Please don’t type anything private you wouldn’t want in a dish card. Once you send a crave, its dish card, story included, is public.
4. What’s kept
- By Cravable. Your conversation with the dish guide is kept on your device and, if you’re signed in, with your draft, until you send or delete it. Once a crave is sent, its draft keeps only the dish card. We also keep a copy of every conversation with the dish guide and the AI search for 30 days, without your name, account or device, to check how they answer: our checks read it by rules, not with AI, and only Cravable’s team sees what they find. For searches, your recent ones stay on your device if you chose Accept. We don’t keep recordings from the mic: once Gemini has written one down, only its words are left, in the box. For everything, we record when you used AI and what it cost, so the limits work. More in our Privacy Policy.
- Pictures are kept in our storage, under a random name, and so are those that didn’t pass the check, which are never shown. The one you choose shows on your crave; the others are deleted after [30 days]. Each picture’s check, with the dish card’s facts it read, is kept for 30 days, for the morning’s second look.
- By Anthropic and Google. Under their terms for businesses, neither may use what we send to train its models. They may keep it for a limited time to check for misuse, as their terms set out. [Confirm before publishing: Anthropic’s commercial terms, and that the Gemini key is on a paid Google Cloud project, where the same applies; the free tier’s terms differ. Our daily checks run on a Claude account: confirm its terms, or that it’s set so Anthropic doesn’t train on its chats.]
5. Limits
To keep AI available for everyone, the dish guide, its pictures, the AI search and the mic share one allowance, measured by what the AI costs us over any 24 hours and any 7 days. It grows with your time on Cravable: guests can chat and search a little, and an account gets more in its first week, more again after it once its email address is confirmed, and more once it has picked up a meal. Pictures need an account. When you reach a limit, we tell you when you can carry on, your draft stays saved and the matches as you type still show. If Cravable’s AI use for the day runs very high, new pictures pause until midnight (Pacific time), and if it runs higher still, so do the dish guide, the search and the mic.
6. When AI gets it wrong
AI can be wrong or incomplete. It can get a dish’s name, origin or ingredients wrong, or describe a culture’s food in a way its cooks wouldn’t. You can edit the dish card before you send it, and the kitchen’s offer always replaces the AI’s guess. If something an AI wrote or drew is wrong, offensive or looks like someone else’s work, email hello@cravable.ai with the link and we’ll fix or replace it.
7. AI pictures
- AI pictures are labeled AI illustration where a crave opens. In lists, our fine print says Pictures are AI illustrations, adding except kitchens’ own photos when a list shows some.
- Every checkout of a crave shown with an AI illustration says the kitchen makes the meal, so it may not look exactly like its illustration.
- A kitchen can add its own photo of the dish to its offer. Cravable checks it, and once the offer is approved the crave shows it, labeled as the kitchen’s photo, in place of the AI illustration.
- Pictures are drawn for Cravable from a description, never from a photo of anyone’s meal, and we don’t present them as real dishes. You can share them with the crave’s link.
8. Changes
When we add a new use of AI, or change which company’s AI we use, we update this page first and tell you on the site.
